By using iHateTrivia.com ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Service Overview
iHateTrivia is a multiplayer trivia web app with:
- Classic mode: create a room, players join, category selection per round, and question sets.
- Battle mode: players choose categories up front, then race to a target score.
- Custom mode: custom trivia generated from user prompts using OpenAI APIs.
- Daily mode: all players can play the same daily question set and compare results.
2. Accounts and Access
Access to core features requires login. You may authenticate with Google or with email/password. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.
3. Pricing and Ads
The Service is currently free to users and supported by advertising (including Google Ads/AdSense).
4. User Conduct
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to disrupt gameplay, abuse rooms, scrape content, exploit security weaknesses, or use the Service for unlawful activity.
5. AI-Generated Custom Content
Custom mode uses OpenAI APIs to generate question content based on user prompts. Generated content may contain errors or imperfect outputs, and you should not rely on it for factual, legal, medical, or safety-critical use.
6. Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on third parties, including Google (authentication and ads) and OpenAI (custom trivia generation). Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service design, branding, and site materials are owned by iHateTrivia or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
8. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or the accuracy of all trivia content.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, iHateTrivia is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Service.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Communications
We send account and service-related emails (for example, verification and security notices). We do not currently send marketing emails, but we reserve the right to do so in the future in compliance with applicable law and with opt-out methods where required.
